Urgensi Evaluasi Materi Ajar Bahasa Arab

This study aims to analyze the urgency of evaluating Arabic language teaching materials at the secondary level by comprehensively examining linguistic, pedagogical, and cultural aspects. The research employed a qualitative approach with an evaluative design. Data were collected through document analysis of 12 textbook chapters, interviews with three Arabic language teachers, and classroom observations involving 64 students. Data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the teaching materials are predominantly grammar-oriented (40%), while communicative skills such as speaking (7%) and listening (5%) receive limited emphasis. Approximately 62% of students reported difficulty understanding texts independently, and 75% of assessments were grammar-based. In terms of cultural content, 80% focused on Middle Eastern contexts with limited integration of local cultural elements. These findings indicate an imbalance between structural competence and communicative function, as well as insufficient intercultural orientation. The study concludes that systematic evaluation of Arabic teaching materials is essential to ensure alignment among linguistic, pedagogical, and cultural competencies. The novelty of this research lies in proposing an integrative evaluation framework based on three dimensions (linguistic–pedagogical–intercultural), offering a comprehensive model for developing more communicative and contextually relevant Arabic teaching materials

Eksperimentasi Model Pembelajaran Discovery Learning Berbasis Etnomatematika Pada Mata Kuliah Matematika Diskrit

Higher education institutions are expected to produce graduates with strong academic competencies and higher-order thinking skills. However, learning outcomes in the Discrete Mathematics course of the Informatics Study Program remain relatively low due to the abstract nature of the subject matter and the dominance of lecturer-centered instruction. This study aimed to examine the effect of an ethnomathematics-based Discovery Learning model on students’ learning outcomes in Discrete Mathematics. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed. The sample consisted of 40 students selected through cluster random sampling, comprising 20 students in the experimental class and 20 students in the control class. Data were collected using a learning achievement test that had met validity and reliability requirements. Data analysis was conducted through normality, homogeneity, and t-tests. The findings revealed a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students taught using the ethnomathematics-based Discovery Learning model and those taught through direct instruction (tcount = 2.614 > ttable = 1.999). The mean score of the experimental group was 71.94, which was higher than that of the control group (61.37). These findings indicate that integrating Discovery Learning with ethnomathematics effectively improves students’ learning outcomes. The study implies that culturally responsive and contextual learning approaches can serve as innovative strategies to facilitate the understanding of abstract mathematical concepts while enhancing student engagement and active participation in higher education learning environments

Pengaruh Keterlibatan Ayah dalam Pengasuhan Terhadap Kepercayaan diri Anak Usia 5-6 Tahun

A father involvement in child-rearing, when carried out through active and consistent participation, has a positive impact on a child, one of which is self-confidence. Self-confidence is the belief in one’s own potential or abilities, and a child’s self-confidence can influence their character and mental development, which will serve as an important foundation for the child as they face their future, enabling them to respond realistically when facing challenges. The purpose of this study is to determine whether fathers’ involvement in child-rearing has an influence on the self-confidence of 5- to 6-year-old children at TK Education 21 Kulim in Pekanbaru. This is a quantitative study using a regression research design. The study population consists of fathers and their children aged 5–6 years at TK Education 21 Kulim in Pekanbaru. The sampling technique used was saturation sampling, with a sample size of 57 children and 57 fathers. The methods employed in this study included a questionnaire for fathers and an observation sheet for the children. Based on the correlation test calculations, a value of r = 0.653 was obtained, with a significance level of 0.000, indicating a significant influence of fathers’ involvement in child-rearing on the self-confidence of children aged 5–6 years. In conclusion, there is a positive correlation between father involvement in child-rearing and children’s self-confidence at Education 21 Kulim Pekanaru Kindergarten.
