Pengaruh Model Project Based Learning Berbasis STEM terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa

Critical thinking is a basic skill needed to face the challenges of modern life, but it is still underdeveloped in conventional learning. The Project Based Learning model with a STEM approach is an alternative solution because it actively involves students in solving real problems. This approach is relevant for use in abstract linear equation material. Based on this, this study was conducted to describe the effect of implementing the STEM-based Project Based Learning model on students' critical thinking skills at MTsN 9 Banyuwangi. This study used a quantitative approach with a Post-test Only Control Group Design. The sample consisted of class VIII F as the experiment and VIIIC as the control, selected purposively. Data collection techniques were through essay tests and documentation, with instruments that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out using inferential statistics, starting with normality and homogeneity tests. Followed by hypothesis testing using the t-test. The results of the hypothesis test show that the sig value (2-tailed) of the hypothesis test results is 0.024. Based on the decision-making criteria, because the sig value (2-tailed) <0.05 then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the critical thinking abilities of the experimental class and the control class after the implementation of the Project Based Learning learning model with the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approach. Based on the t-test output, the mean difference can be observed through the post-test results of the two classes as shown in the statistical analysis table. These results indicate that the use of STEM-based Project Based Learning has a positive influence on students' critical thinking abilities on linear equation material. This study also contributes to enriching STEM learning practices in madrasas, especially as an implementation reference in developing learning models that support students' critical thinking skills
